HINCHINBROOK, LAND AND SEA
Hinchinbrook Explorer II invites you to a day of discovery amongst the wilderness of Australia's largest island National Park – Hinchinbrook Island. Cruise calm waters looking for dugong, turtles and crocodiles while learning from the onboard commentary. Explore the vast mangrove forest everglades of Missionary Bay, experience pristine Australian rainforest, dramatic mountain scenery, rugged headlands and deserted beaches. Hinchinbrook, this magical paradise where you can feel the tranquillity, find space to take in spectacular panoramas, walk National Park trails and marvel at the awesome unspoilt beauty of this iconic Island. HINCHINBROOK EXPLORER II DAY TOURHinchinbrook Cruises start at Port Hinchinbrook Marina which is located on the Bruce Highway halfway between Cairns and Townsville. 8:30am All Tour guests arrive at Port Hinchinbrook Marina and check in for one of the best day tours in Australia. 9:00am World Heritage listed Hinchinbrook Island National Park awaits you. Cruise departs the Marina aboard Hinchinbrook Explorer II. In protected waters (so no sea sickness) be on the lookout for dugong, turtles, dolphins and sometimes crocodiles. Picnic lunches are provided to all fare paying day trip passengers – NB: Under 4 year olds travel FREE. 9:30am Cruise between Garden and Goold Islands before heading to Ramsay Bay Beach boardwalk.
10:30am Disembark at Ramsay Bay boardwalk for a 20 minute walk onto a 9km long pristine golden beach! Guests are not required to stay with the group for duration of stop. All of Hinchinbrook's beaches are true wilderness and normal caution applies as with all oceans. The beach is historically safe for swimming, perfect for relaxing in the sun, looking for fossils, ball games, a picnic…. A further 20 minute rainforest walk to Black Sand Beach is an option for those seeking an added adventure! LUNCHES issued to all guests upon arrival to Ramsay Bay Boardwalk. Lunch packs include: Freshly made wraps, large homemade muffins, cakes or cookies, fruit, water and juice.
1:00pm Departure from Ramsay Bay is scheduled for 1.00pm, but please listen to the skipper on the day. Tides and other constraints may necessitate a different departure time. Another smooth, comfortable cruise back to the mainland with further opportunity to spot the marine life. 2:00pm Arrive back at Port Hinchinbrook. Note: Times may change or alter without notice.
